🟣 September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Every life matters. Every story deserves to be heard. Every person deserves hope.
💬 Suicide is preventable. When we combine knowledge, care, and compassion, we can make a real impact.
🧠 Suicide is complex, shaped by many interconnected factors. Recognizing the warning signs can save lives.
🛠️ Prevention means action—understanding risk, accessing proven support, and sharing hope. Healing is possible.
🌱 With the right support, people can heal, build resilience, and thrive—even after a crisis.
👂 Hope grows when people feel heard. Listening can guide someone toward strength in their darkest moments.
🛤️ There’s no single path to healing. Support must meet people where they are. Recovery is personal. Every journey is different.
💜 This month, let’s break the silence. Let’s be the voice that reminds someone they’re not alone.

FOTM has officially received the Autism Friendly Designation from Autism Speaks!
This recognition reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for individuals with autism and related conditions. Our team has completed specialized training to better understand the unique needs of individuals with autism and their families—and we’re dedicated to ensuring everyone feels seen, respected, and valued when they walk through our doors.
At FOTM, inclusion isn’t just a goal—it’s a promise. We’re honored to be part of a growing movement that celebrates neurodiversity and promotes accessibility in every space we serve.
Join the New York City Mayor's Office of Community Mental Health (OCMH), The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), and Families on the Move (FOTM) for a virtual training symposium titled Integrating and Supporting Peer Support Workers in Behavioral Health Settings. This training symposium will focus on promoting organizational culture change within New York City (NYC) contracted provider organizations and nonprofits that support and employ Peer Support Workers (PSWs), including Peer Specialists, Youth Peer Advocates, Family Peer Advocates, and Recovery Peer Advocates.
This event will explore best practices for hiring, disclosure, and successfully integrating and retaining PSWs into organizational and team structures. Our discussions will emphasize strategies and actionable practices that foster inclusion and the integration of people with lived experience in the workplace, creating a more diverse, inclusive, and effective workforce.
This virtual training symposium will be held on March 26, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm. Please read the attached flyer for more information and click the link to register. You can also click the link below to register. After you have registered, you will be sent a calendar invite and link to the virtual event.
